Sarah: No! you don’t get to just come back and act like everything is okay! You left and didn’t come back for 15 years. Do you know how that makes me feel, I was a wreck without you. Yes this past week has been the best week ever, but it can’t make up for 15 years of sadness. If you really loved me, you would not have just come back, if you really loved me you would have never left.
Derek: I left because I thought it was the right thing to do. I thought that if I left, you would have a chance at a better life without me. I know I haven’t been the best influence on your life and with you going on to do great things, I didn’t want to be the person who ruined that for you.
Sarah: But I have done these great things because of you in hopes that you will eventually see what I have done and come back. Yes, I’m successful and yes my life is pretty great right now, but that does not mean I never think about what my life would have been like if I was with you.
Derek: But we can do that now, we can have that life.
Sarah: No we can’t, because we are grown now with separate lives, so I’m going to do what I should have done a week ago and say goodbye.
Derek: What if I don’t want to say goodbye?
Sarah: The day you left is the day you said goodbye.
